The Role: Research & Engagement Lead
The Research & Engagement Lead role is a consultancy position, offering a unique opportunity to shape the future of climate adaptation finance in Africa. The successful candidate will design and deliver a flagship report, exploring just adaptation finance with a focus on financial institutions, insurance markets, risk-transfer mechanisms, and community-led resilience models.
This role is about more than just research; it's about driving action and systemic change. The consultant will engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, from banks and investors to policymakers and community leaders, to understand the challenges and opportunities for a more equitable climate adaptation finance system.
Key Responsibilities and Impact
The Research & Engagement Lead will be responsible for developing an analytical framework to map the spectrum of adaptation finance instruments, from public and private finance models to insurance tools and de-risking instruments. This framework will be used to assess how these systems allocate risk, influence investment, and ultimately, shape resilience outcomes on the ground.
One of the most exciting aspects of this role is the opportunity to identify and document real-world case studies across Africa. By conducting structured interviews with a range of stakeholders, the consultant will uncover what works, what fails, and the conditions necessary for scalable, community-led resilience initiatives.
